Things to do in Madrid with kids: a day at Dinolandia

Looking for things to do in Madrid with kids? Head outdoors for life-size animatronic dinosaurs, living plant sculptures and minerals, all in one location. Dinolandia is 50 minutes from Madrid, in the Sierra Oeste, rather than in the city centre.

Your family day, step by step

A flexible suggestion for a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday. This is not a guided tour or a timed programme. Take each stop at your children's pace.

  1. 01

    10:30 · Arrive

Park for free and show your ticket QR code on your phone or on paper. You do not need to choose a date when buying tickets.

  2. 02

    First stop · Dinolandia

Start with the life-size dinosaurs. Follow the paths through pines and holm oaks, with time to watch the dinosaurs move and take photographs.

  3. 03

Take a break · Family picnic

You may bring prepared sandwiches and water in a small bag or backpack. Use the picnic areas, not the kiosk or bar tables. Other drinks, cool boxes and food containers are not permitted.

  4. 04

Next · El Bosque Encantado and Mineralandia

Explore the garden's living plant sculptures, then discover the outdoor mineral displays. One ticket covers all three areas, which share the same opening hours.

How long should you allow?

A visit usually takes 2–4 hours, depending on your pace and breaks. There is no fixed time limit: you may stay until closing. A morning visit works well for a first trip; to see the forest lights, plan a longer stay on a weekend or public holiday.

By bus

Bus 551 runs from Príncipe Pío to San Martín de Valdeiglesias. From there, walk or take a taxi to the park. Check the outbound and return timetable PDFs when planning your journey; do not assume the time of the last bus.
