Dinosaur school trips near Madrid: a guide for schools

Every school year, hundreds of schools in Madrid and the surrounding area look for a trip that combines fun with genuine educational content. Dinosaurs are a perfect all-round choice: they appeal to children in nursery, primary and even secondary school, and make it possible to explore natural sciences without anyone getting bored.

Why a dinosaur trip works so well

Dinosaurs are a gateway to a wealth of curriculum topics: the history of the Earth, evolution, ecosystems, fossils, extinction… And unlike other subjects, pupils arrive already enthusiastic. Seeing life-size species moving among the trees turns abstract concepts into something they will remember for years to come.

What the trip to Dinolandia includes

The school visit combines three areas on the same site:

  • Dinolandia: dozens of life-size animatronic dinosaurs among pine trees, with information panels about each species.
  • El Bosque Encantado: a botanical garden of living plant sculptures, perfect for discussing botany, art and caring for the environment.
  • Mineralandia: thousands of minerals and semi-precious stones, ideal for introducing geology.

We also offer workshops for children and educational experiences tailored to different ages, with downloadable resource packs to help teachers prepare for the visit: you’ll find them on our Groups and schools page.

How to organise it step by step

  1. Choose a date and time slot: schools usually visit on weekday mornings.
  2. Email us at grupos@bosqueencantado.net or call 621 27 73 79, stating the number of pupils, their age and year group.
  3. Receive a proposal with workshops, timings and a group price (there is a special rate for groups of more than 18 people).
  4. Prepare for the visit with the educational resource packs: doing your homework beforehand helps everyone get much more out of the day.

How to get here

We are in San Martín de Valdeiglesias, around 50 minutes from Madrid via the M-501. There is free parking with space for coaches, and there is also a bus service from Madrid (check the timetables on our Find us page).

A trip pupils won’t forget

If you’re looking for this school year’s trip, get in touch and we’ll put together a tailored proposal for you. Dinosaurs, botany and minerals in a single day: hard to beat.
